  • Sibyl Kempson has performed in NYC Players productions including Das Maedchen, The End of Reality, The Frame (Nach Amerika!) and Showy Lady Slipper. She also made costumes for early favorites Ute Mnos vs. Crazy Liquors, and Flight Courier Service. She lives and works in New York City and the Pocono Mountains. Her own plays include Crime or Emergency; Potatoes of August; Zeit af der KürbisGeistNachten; The Secret Death of Puppets (or) How Do Puppets Die? (or) Puppets Die in Secret; Bad Girls, Good Writers and its Tlönian opposite, currently in the works: Good Girls, Bad Writers; The Wytche of Problymm Plantation and many others, like This Property is BAUHAUS! and the legendary Spargel Time!. You can have seen these plays at Dixon Place, P.S. 122, Little Theater, CATCH!, and Soho Rep, and at the Great Plains Theater Conference in Omaha, the Fusebox Festival in Austin and soon at Theater Bonn in Germany. Certain of them can also be found in publications by the 53rd State Press/Ugly Duckling Presse, PLAY: Journal of Plays, the Brooklyn Review, Midway Literary Journal, i-theatron, or Semiotext(e) Native Agents/MIT Press. She is a member of New Dramatists, a MacDowell Colony Fellow, a co-founder of the Joyce Cho Initiative, an affiliation of playwrights dedicated to the staging of problem plays, and Machiqq Women's Auxiliary Playwriting Group.
